Psychology Services

A Chartered Occupational Psychologist is differentiated from other Human Resource specialists or Human Resource services providers through a number of attributes:

  • Psychologists have an in-depth understanding of human needs and motivation – interventions that do not take into account human psychology can suffer from a lack of buy-in and engagement from employees. These threaten to make the intervention a costly and potentially destructive exercise, whereas a human psychology-based intervention can improve overall return on investment.
  • To become a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, you must demonstrate experience in and competence at using a research based approach to identify business needs and opportunities – the result is that a business is better able to understand it’s specific needs, with evidence, and to have confidence as a result in focusing on a solution that increases the return on the intervention.
  • A Chartered Occupational Psychologist is a specialist in multiple areas – for example, whereas a 360 degree feedback provider may provide a system for carrying out the data collection, a Chartered Occupational Psychologist can provide an integrated solution, i.e. identifying that 360 degree feedback is an appropriate solution given the need; gaining consent from the individual to perform the 360 degree review; designing the questions; conducting the survey; delivering feedback; identifying action steps to be taken; providing coaching and training to improve performance.
  • Bound to an ethical code of conduct relating to business clients and their employees – the independence of this role enables trust to develop between all parties in the intervention being carried put which yields a more transparent and engaged approach from the business employees.
